It is being reported that the NetworkSolution's UK branch has gone down.
While there seems to be no issues in the US network, clients are reporting the outage on a number of hosting foruums. Network Solution.com makes no mention of any service inturuptions on their US website.
Network Solutions has a history of ownership change and growth. After going public in 1997, they were aquired by Verisign in 2000. They have been purchased since by 3 other owners. Today they are presently owned by General Atlantic.
We will continue to update the status as it becomes available

I have more details, nothing much of value other than to say they also blocked a major US datacenter's network off too, even though the peeps at the aforementioned DC /proved/ that they weren't beeing attacked from inside their network.
Meh, I always considered netsol a bit of a fly-by-night operation even when I first heard of them maybe back in the dark ages of 96/97 - guess they proved me right :)

Yeesh, got any more details streaky? :) Might make for some additional stuff for the blog!

Yeah in this case they were actively blocking massive netblocks - I'm told - based on spoofed IPs they were seeing attacking their systems.
We're talking about entire /8's here even though these ranges probably weren't the real attackers. I'm also informed by somebody that was involved in discussions over this that essentially they were told by representatives of companies like XO that what they were doing was stupid but that they didn't care and did it anyway.
If what I've heard is true.. well.. you'd expect better from Netsol really. No idea if it was the same issue that caused the blogged downtime.
