Affordablehost was started in 1997 under the name White Lake Web, as a local web design firm and small hosting company. Affordablehost expanded their services to include website hosting, dedicated server hosting and domain registrations. Affordablehost.com currently hosts approximately 9,000 accounts, for customers in over 35 countries world-wide.

Headquartered in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, Light Speed Technologies provides SMB Web hosting and e-commerce services through their two primary brands dotCanada.com and Affordablehost.com. Over 8,000 customers use their individual and reseller hosting services to manage over 20,000 web sites. In 2005 dotCanada.com was chosen by Costco Canada as the exclusive provider of Web Site Hosting for Costco Canada Executive Members
